About Tea

TEA IS A GREAT FRIEND, WARM, TASTEFUL, INVIGORATING AND  THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!

The first record of tea dates back to 200 BC when it was mentioned in a pharmacological treatise as  originating from China. By the 14th century tea was being exported from China to the west where as  today it was made in a teapot infused for a few minutes. Each country then had its own way to enjoy  tea, in the UK it was brewed to strength and had with a splash of milk, in Japan it became the focus of  ceremony, in Russia it was made in a Samovar and in India blended with spices.
Tea is defined as the dried and processed leaves of the evergreen plant Camellia Sinensis (tea bush).  Once brewed it becomes a beverage. The title tea is loosely used for many beverages, however unless  the leaves are sourced from the tea bush then these drinks are not technically tea, but tisanes or  herbal infusions. Tea has been citied to have many beneficial health properties ranging from lowering  of stress, boosting of the immune system, improving cardiovascular health to inhibiting bad breath  and boosting mental alertness. Tea has antioxidants that are known to help fight cancer and assist  in rejuvenation. Besides Tea itself there are some aromatic spices, fruits and herbs that contribute to  medicinal and remedial properties of the final concoction along with lending an enjoyable taste.
